Kids’ Rooms Design
Finally getting around to formally sharing this project!! One of my new favorite things to do is create and design rooms for kids. I’ve had a couple opportunities to do it recently, and I think I just thrive when I’m collaborating with their imaginations. I love to decorate with color as well, usually our clients like to keep things relatively neutral in main living spaces!
BEFORE
These beds are actually bunk beds! So the first thing we decided to do was put them together and purchase a new bed for the girls room. Then we painted the bunk beds black. That’s the only major furniture purchase we made! We used mostly what they already had and just updated it with the decor!
My favorite part of this project was finding antique pieces to add character and uniqueness. Like the boxing gloves and pennant flags that I picked up from Furbish in Salem, OR. And the peg hooks I got from The Shabby Cottage!
I often start a design by picking out a rug, and this one started as the inspiration for me! I pulled the green from the rug up into the curtains, and the blue and linen colors into the pillows!
The stenciled wall was so easy and quick! I probably got it done in an hour and a half. We cut out the stencil with the Cricut, and I just used the leftover chalk paint from the bed. I didn’t draw out a pattern, just measured the same distance between each cross.
The details in this picture just touch my heart!! This bear lamp was her mamas when she was young. The ‘Be the Light’ sign I got from AverieLane, the wicker plant basket and gold watering can, THE SOCK MONKEY. It’s too much. Not to mention the boho swing, which i’m currently trying to find a spot for in my house. You can find it here and I can’t recommend it enough, we’ve used it twice now!
BEFORE
In the before pictures you can see that this nightstand had black handles and no legs. So we updated it with new ones, and added these modern wooden legs to give it a totally new look!
I’m so grateful for these people and their kids!! I was able to use a lot of my creativity and ideas, and that’s how I’m able to grow and learn! It’s been such a gift to work with them!
Till next time,
