my houseplant journey
If you’ve been around for a little while.. or even a short while, you know I love filling my tiny house with plants! I got my first plant at Trader Joes several years ago and obviously I never quit. I started decorating professionally around the same time, and realized how much life they brought into a space, vs. faux plants. Although faux plants have come a long way and they look really nice, I like to encourage my clients to take on the task of caring for a real one. Even if it’s just one(I mean, that’s how it starts). I believe in my people and their ability to keep a plant alive! There are so many types that are low maintenance and easy to take care of! I’m not a pro by any means, and I have killed plants, but that’s how you learn and grow! Some have really persevered through being neglected and moving houses, they have been resilient along side me in tough times! There’s so much beauty in process! I’m sure gardeners and all plant enthusiasts can attest to this. I invite you to join in the fun! I don’t have all the answers but let’s go on this adventure together!
Here are some of the tools and products I like to use that you may need on your indoor plant journey!
I recently started propagating with this wall hanger. It’s so satisfying to watch the roots grow! I have been successful in transferring the babies from water to soil, although I have only repotted it with it’s previous mama to make the plant fuller! I’d love to give away my rooted cuttings to friends though!
I got my little watering can from IKEA years ago, but I looove the way this one looks and it comes in 3 colors! I definitely recommend one with a gooseneck so you can get the water directly into the soil and not on the leaves!
Bugs happen! Right now I have gnats! So I’m grabbing some of these bug catchers and I’m going to let my plants dry out in-between watering to stop the infestation! Other than that, I haven’t had any issues with bugs in my plant journey!
Follow along on my Instagram stories to see some of my favorite plants, when I water them, and the type of lighting they need! And pleeease share about your experiences with me!! Can’t wait to talk more!
