What’s in my toolbox
This title cracks me up. It’s like “what’s in my bag” but decorators edition. I wanted to share what’s in my toolbox with you guys because it’s our tried and true tools that I use for client installs and what I reach for when doing projects in my own home! So if you decide to start a project yourself, this is everything you might need!
I have the essentials like a hammer, assorted nails, screw drivers, levels, measuring tape. But I have some other tools that I can’t go to an install without!
These command strips!! They’re nice for lightweight items, but they can hold up to 16 lbs. I love them for gallery walls and situations where I would have used a lot of nails. Plus they’re velcro so you can slightly adjust them to be level.
A steamer!! Steaming curtains is one of my favorite parts of an install to be honest lol. It really finishes off the space and makes it look really profesh.
Too many times I’ve tried to use the screws and anchors that products, like curtain rods, come with.. they don’t work. We have a big ol’ box of these guys now. They never fail me.
Drywall spackling is good to keep around so we can fill holes if we need to remove any nails!
Museum putty! To keep picture frames and shelf decor in place!
By far my most used tool is my drill. This one is pretty inexpensive and having all the bits is a GAME CHANGER. Sometimes it feels like when we assemble furniture they all come with different types of screws, and this just speeds up the process!
I’d love to start working with more power tools and tackling bigger projects. I’m big about using what you have and using decor to refresh a space, especially if it’s not in the budget to do any structural changes. On the other hand.. I know I’m capable of doing accents like shiplap, board and batten, and bead board! And sometimes a space just calls for it, ya know? You may see me pursuing something like that soon.
For now, I’ll be changing spaces one gallery wall at a time!
Till next time, xo
